No Video Out

I bought a motherboard and case for £5 a few months ago and have been waiting for parts to arrive since then. The parts that were missing from the motherboard were as follows:

o Hard Disk
o Video Card
o Ram (RDRam/Rambus technologies)

I bought a Maxtor 40Gb hard disk, 2x 128Mb Corsair RDRam and an nVidia MX4000.

The ram was the part that took the longest, which I just received today. I had tried booting (for fun) when it just had the hard disk and video card and got 3 beeps from the POST which I later found was to do with the lack of ram in the machine. Now that I have the ram fitted I get no beeps but I also get no signal going to the monitor.

Any suggestions as to what I've done wrong?

Bailz.

CRIMMs are needed with rambus ram.
So you'd have 2 RIMM modules from and 2 CRIMMS if your board has 4 memory slots since all slots must be filled on a rambus board.
At one time the Corsair site would pop up a warning if you ordered rambus memory without the corresponding number of CRIMMs.
Please post your full specs.

Put in one Rambus module and one CRIMM at a time.
If one of them is at fault it shoud show up.
Check the motherbord manual so that you're sure they're installed correctly.
i.e. CRIMMs in 2 & 4 and ram in 1 & 3 or whatever the correct pattern is for your motherboard.

edit: make sure that the motherboard isn't now grounding out on the case or I/O shield ( I did that once when I switched out a pci card and it took an hour before I realized what had happened.).

According to the manual the memory should be installed in pairs in Block 0 and if necessary Block 1 as I have done. So this can't be the problem.

I'll put the chips in one by one a bit later on today. How would I know if the motherboard is grounding out?

Not sure you are understanding Pam's earlier instruction. RDRAM motherboards require ALL the memory slots be filled. They all don't have to be filled with memory cards/sticks however. If you have one pair of memory sticks installed, you can fill the remaining empty slots with blank filler sticks called CRIMMS.

PanamaRed is right about my not having been clear.
You'll need to buy more CRIMMs, fortunately they're cheap ($3 here don't know what hey charge in the UK), in order to test the memory.
If the motherboard shifted when you installed the memory it's grounding out against the case which means it's resting/touching on it.
I would just pull it out of the case and put it on a cardboard square while I checked th memory.
