Final check...

Ok, I've been waiting more than 6 months to build a computer and I now have the funds to do it, My budget is around $1800-1900 at max. However I would like to stay around $1800.

Case: Antec Solution

PSU: Antec truepowerII 550W

Mobo:MSI K8N Neo-4 Platinum

CPU:AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+
http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16819103546
RAM:1GB corsair Value Select

HDD: Maxtor diamondmax 10 200GB
http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16822140168
GPU: eVGA 7800GT
http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16814130256
DVD:Lite-On DVD burner
http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16827106988
FDD:Samsung Floppy drive
http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16821103203
Keyboard:Microsoft standard keyboard
Mouse: Flexiglow X-Raider
Speakers: creative I-Trigue 3300 2.1

Monitor:Hyundai L90D+

OS: Windows XP home edition

Now I have a dilema, should I stick with the 4400+ or should I get a 3800 X2 and get an extra gig of ram?

What are you going to do with the computer?

Personally I would drop to a cheaper dual core or a cheaper, faster single core and upgrade to 2 gig of RAM or a 7800GTX (if you are gaming, I'd probably do this...cause you can add another gig of RAM later on)

Primarily it will be used for gaming, but I will also do some music production, some photoshop, and some beginner programming on it as well. I'm not too worried about the music production stuff as my old Dimension 2400 was able to handle it fine.

CPU:AMD Athlon 64 4000+

GPU:eVGA 7800GTX

Could I even downgrade the processor even more to a 3700+?

I think I'll probably just stick with the 4000+ and add another gig of ram later if need be.

Yeah, it'd be better to get a good CPU and video card now...since it's cheaper to toss in another gig than to replace either of the former.
