Cd DVD problem
heres my setup
TEAC DV516E/B/S 48X/16X-DVD EIDE INTERNAL PIONEER DVR-610B 16X BLACK DVD REWRITABLE DRIVE MAXTOR 100GB 6L100M0 SATA 7200RPM 8MB INTEL PENTIUM 4 630 3.0 GHZ EM64T 800MHZ RETAIL BOXED BUNDLE W/=FREE ROBO BLITZ PC GAME= ASUS P5P800= MWAVE 1GB DDR400(512MB X 2 CREATIVE LABS SOUNDBLASTER X-FI PLATINUM PCI W/X-FI I/O DRIVE & REMOTE MS WIRELESS OPTICAL DESKTOP KEYBOARD & MOUSE (DSP When i start my pc and dont have a dvd in any one of the drives I can read a cd. If I put in a dvd after I start up the machine I can read a DVD. After I start the machine and put a cd in, when I take the cd out I cannot access a dvd in any drive. I get a f: is unaccessable. If I start up the machine and have a dvd in then put in a cd i cant access the cd. I am ready to throw this out the window. I am useing WINDVD 7 as a media player, and windows media player 10. Can anyone throw some insight on this for me. Thanks |

so far I have restarted my machine in safe mode. Both drives work perfectly fine. Even when I change disks. msconfig disabled everything in start up. rebooted machine and still same proble. Instert disk and get incorrect function message

Are the drives on the same or different channels and how are the jumpers set?

on the dvd writer it is set by itself on the ide cable as slave. On the reader it is set to slave following by a second hard drive as master.

Set the DVD to master if it is on a 40 pin conector or master or cable select if it is on an 80 pin connector and see if that solves the problem.
