Display problem

I bought a bare bones kit, installed my mother board, processor, power buttons and video card. When I started them up, the fan went on, the video card got hot, but there was no display. My mother board is MSI PM8M-V Socket 478 Motherboard and the processor is, Intel Celeron 340 2.93Ghz 533FSB Socket 478. I am using a nivida gforce pci, I hope this isnt the problem.

Might try this:

You are trying to see if the motherboard is shorting out with the case.

What power supply do you have? (wattage and brand)

Wouldn't happen to have another power supply you could swap with? That's not a very good quality power supply and might have already pooped out.

But, you should check for stray standoffs by following the instructions in the link I posted above.

fqpissed It's got AGP and IGP, so of course a conflict is possible

The problem is most likely related to the integrated video that comes included on that model MB. But while I am pointing that out, I have to wonder why choose a PCI video card? It comes with an AGP slot for a decent VGA of some sort.

Anyway, you probably aren't setting the right things in the BIOS to enable a PCI video card instead of either real AGP or the IGP version of AGP.

I bought the video card for my last pc, because it had an intergrated video card,a nd no agp slot. There was a place on the mother board to hook up a monitor to, I failed to mention that I tried it also and nothing. I am going to pull it all out and start from the begining tommorrow.

So, I gutted the pc and tried to fire it up as per the instructions....the fans started working and everything, but still no display. I tried in the graphics cards as well as with the on board vga, although it doesnt say it has an on board graphics card, it does have a vga port.

There is, I have it connected. It came with a 20+4 pin they were snapped together(but they seperate), and a 4 pin on its own. I have the seperate 4 pin connected, I tried the other on intially and It would'nt power up.
