Hi,
I just built my machine with an old hardrive of mine, but apart from that everything else was new. I installed Windows but nothing else. My machine is running very slowly when turn it on. I insert the CD that came with the barebone and autoplay does not start up. I tried going to run and running the setup.exe. Nothing happens! I checked under the task manager and the file isn't running. Also, when I try to activate Windows nothing happens. I run the file and I've checked under task manager, the process is running but nothing happens. I can leave the computer alone for hours and nothing happens. System specs: Celeron D 2.53MHz 1 GB of GEIL DDR SD-RAM MSI Barebone Kit: PM8M2-V Samsung CD/DVD Combo Floppy Drive Microsoft Windows XP Do I need a 64 bit OS for the 64 bit processor or is the normal Window XP okay? What kind of hard drive is the old one? What brand is it? Is it a 5400 RPM or 7200 RPM hard drive? Was Windows already installed on it or did you do a fresh install on it? Cricket

I reformatted the drive. And installed windows fresh.
The OS disk came with the computer. The drive is about 4 years old to date. I believe it's a 5400. |
