Problem: During boot stage, can't get past "verifying dmi pool data".
This is a new build: MSI Km4M-V mobo, 256mb 2700 ram, WD 40gb HD, sony floppy and Liteon cd rw. It boots to a win98 start disk and can read/write to the hard drive and read the cd. When I try to load XP home from the CD, it won't go past the verifying dmi pool data stage during boot-up. Responses greatly appreciated. |

No, I don't think so. Again, as I mentioned, it does boot to a floppy and can read a fat32 formated hard disk as the primary master (C
. The cd is hooked up as a primary on the secondary ide slot.I tried different boot orders a, c, d and d, a, c. and tried doing it with the floppy disconnected. But again, when I try to boot to a fresh win xp from the cd drive it stalls. ??? Last edited by t_purv; 12-09-2005 at 09:49 PM. |

What speed is the processor you're using? Win98 had a problem with processors faster than 2.1GHz.
Why aren't you using WinXP? Cricket

Cricket, answering your question: I've been trying to load xp from the cd but it won't get past the verifying dmi pool data during boot state. I'm about to plug what I know is a good NTFS partioned drive into the new board and see if that will allow xp to load.
Earlier I mentioned that it seems to boot fine with all the drives connected when booting to a win 98 floppy and the bios finds and identifys the connected hd, cd and floppy fine. |
