You shouldn't need another heatsink...the one packaged with retail CPUs is adequate. I'd get a faster CPU to match the video card...it's not really balanced. At least a 3500+ or best would be the 3700+

Build looks good...I'm not crazy about MSI motherboards but yours might not give you any problems.

If you are planning on overclocking, stick with the aftermarket heatsink. However it will void your processor warranty, but overclocking will too, so no big deal there.
. Also that case only has 80 mm fans, something with larger fans and a side vent fan location would be better for overclocking.
I assume that you are aware of the procedures and risks involved with overclocking.
If not you should study up on it before you try it.
I think WD might have that HD in a 16Mb cache version.
Also not a fan of MSI, would go with ASUS.
Use the configurator to be sure you get compatible RAM

Everything looks great except the ram, you really should go with at least 1.5 gig of ram. Check out PDP Patriot Xtreme Performance RAM w/XBL technology, it's a OCers dream RAM, just be sure it is compatible w/ your MOBO. Check it out at newegg.com

If you plan to OC, as the guy above me said your going to need better than value RAM, however his advice sounded like an ad

You can go with the Value but don't expect very high clocks.

If you're going to overclock that rig, look at motherboards from ABIT and DFI.

I am sticking with the MSI board but depending on how much cash I get I will consider some better RAM. For now thats what the budget allows.

Do you guys think i'll be able to play COD2 at full res and details with it? (Before OC and usng the VR)

Instead of overclocking, spend $60 US more for the 3700+ San Diego and keep the value ram and stock heatsink. If you can't afford it, then try for a 3500+ Venice.

The money you save overclocking a slower processor will get eaten up and then some by the higher quality components you will need to overclock successfully.

Yes, that rig will have no problem with COD2. I play it with my sig rig with every setting on max with no problems at all.

I completely agree. IMO, this is the way to go - you don't have to worry about having highgrade OC capable parts, and you don't have to worry about vioded warranties etc....

Why are you getting a server CPU? Don't you have to get a different motherboard and ECC memory?

No he doesn't. Opterons run fine on s939 mobos and pc3200 memory.

Heres a link to a guy who was able to overclock his on stock cooling with regular stuff.
