Constant reboot

This is driving me nuts!! I am trying to load windows XP but after having booted from the CD and i get to the standard blue screen where it starts to load all the drivers etc I then reach the Setup is starting windows and the system reboots itself whereupon it goes through all the procedure again. I never get to the screen to press enter then F8 etc.. I think i am ready to try the sledgehammer mode!

MSI6590 KT6
Athlon XP 2000
512Mb DDR RAM
I ought to add that this MB was purchased secondhand from Ebay.

At this point you should have your BIOS set to boot from the cd-drive. Once windows is loaded you need to change your boot order to hard disk. It should be under advanced settings. If you've already done this and you are still having the problem I would look at the hard-drive being the culprit. Is it a new drive or an older one with a previous install?

Hi gtucker329

I am not getting to the option to create a partition etc.. so i cannot load windows. I thought it might have been a faulty PSU so i have changed that still no go. The hard drive is an old one of mine, i am now going to zero the drive and try again. I was also thinking of flashing the BIOS but according to the MSI website i can't flash the BIOS via floppy.

zeroing the drive will most likely solve the problem. I don't think it would be related to bios. If zeroing dosen't work you might have a bad drive.
