Try this:
http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=132409 You are trying to see if the motherboard is shorting out with the case.

Pull out your manual and check the beep codes.
It's trying to tell you what's wrong. And welcome to PCMec.

Can you give us more details about that 500W power supply? How much did you pay for it? Is it on the SLI-certified list? A DFI SLI rig with a 7800 card is going to be very power-hungry, and if you are using a substandard unit you will have problems. Even if it claims to deliver 500 W, it might not have enough available amperage to feed your machine properly.
Also, what brand and style of RAM are you using? Bad or incompatible ram can cause this type of problem as well. |

Your manual should tell you what bios your motherboard has and the error codes for each bios are here : http://www.pcguide.com/ts/x/sys/beep/

Check that the CPU heatsink is securely seated, and that the 4 pin power connector for the cpu is plugged in.

You're getting just 1 repeating beep? That sometimes means a problem with the CPU (depending on the motherboard).
What brand RAM are you using? Are all the power connectors to the motherboard plugged in? Ultra power supplies are kind of hit-n-miss...I would try another compatible power supply to rule out a faulty power supply. Cricket
