$600-$800 build
Ok now that you know the budget what would be the best components in this price range? AMD or Intel doesn't matter. This would be a computer mainly for word processing/web browsing. Thanks

For word processing and web surfing a $300 - $400 Dell would be a better bet, and save you some money too.

I just did a basic build for a friend with the following parts:
Antec TX640 case with Antec ATX 2.0 400 watt power supply Intel Pentium 4 511 Prescott 533MHz FSB LGA 775 EM64T Processor Retail ASUS P5LD2-VM Socket T (LGA775) Motherboard with on-board video and a PCI-Express 16 slot. 1GB Corsair Value Select DDR2 RAM PC2 4200 Seagate Barracuda 200GB 7200 RPM 8M Cache Serial ATA150 Hard Drive LITE-ON Black IDE DVD Burner SONY Black IDE DVD-ROM Drive SONY Black 1.44MB 3.5" Internal Floppy Drive Sony Black 8-in-1 USB 2.0 Internal Card Reader Logitech Cordless Desktop Wireless Standard Keyboard And Mouse MS WinXP Home Came out to about $700. Wouldn't think you'd need 200GB of hard drive space. You could cut back on that to cut costs. Also may not need the 8-in-1 card reader.
