Opinions on upgrading old pc
I have decided to upgrade an old PC i have had laying around for a while to use for internet, instant messaging, homework, and playing old games (Diablo II LoD, Age of Empires II, old sim games)
HDD: Maxtor 40GB $47.50 Memory: PQI 128MB PC133 $28.62 (Will be gettin 2 sticks for 256MBs) Optical: Lite-On Dvd Rom $20.99 GPU: Asus Radeon 7000 $28.00 Total: $125.11 I'm just going to keep the CPU because i'm not really sure if they sell them anymore i can't remeber the socket but its an intel "stick" type it is like a cartridge its a P3 |

I wouldn't spend much if the CPU was 600mHz or less anything higher even the $125 you want to spend is worth more than the computer.

The processor is a 450MHz so would i be better off to buy an old P3 with 128 or 256MBs of ram off ebay then upgrading the hdd?

First you gotta find out just how fast a processor your motherboard supports. What motherboard do you have in that computer? Slot 1 processors go up to 1GHz but your motherboard may not support that particular CPU.
