Boot Disk Failure!

Hi, I am working on a new computer project and it came time to boot up the PC, everything seemed fine until all of a sudden I got an error that says: DISK BOOT FAILURE INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER..

I don't understand what is wrong, I have tried a few things but I want to see what you have to say? I am stumped, this has never happened to me before.

Also, upon boot after it reads my HD, it says below that, No Valide Device! Is this a problem? I'm not a total expert so any help would be greatly appreciated! Sooner the better I am trying to have this built tonight

Thanks very much to any who reply.

If no OS is installed on the hard drive that's the error message you'll get...nothing is wrong, you just haven't installed the OS yet.

You will get that error message on a clean hard drive, since there's nothing on it for the computer to boot from!

In bios, you need to change the boot order so that your optical drive (with the windows disc inserted) boots before the hard drive, allowing you to install XP.

You gotta go into the BIOS and set the first boot device to the optical drive. If you have two opticals you might want to remove one of them and just go with one until the OS is installed.

And make sure if you're using a SATA HDD that it's connected to the proper SATA port (SATA 0 or SATA 1...check your motherboard manual).
