Power connector on motherboard
I have an Asus motherboard:
https://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produ...uctCode=247019 I was just trying to hook up the power supply to it when I realized that the power supply is 20 pin and the motherboard is 24 pin. The power supply has a 4 pin that fits elsewhere on the board. Is it okay to hook the 20 pin into the 24 and the 4 pin in 4? Or is that not enough power? There is NOTHING in my motherboards manual about power supply. |

You need a ATX 2.0 power supply with the 24 pin motherboard power connector.
What brand power supply are you using now and how many watts does it put out? Cricket

I have no clue. It's a generic case. It's 480 watts. Guess I am done for the night and have to find a computer show tomorrow.

Generic units are of poor quality. Make sure you pick up a quality 24-pin unit for that board.
For a list of good brands, check out the stickied PSU threads at the top of the 'General Hardware' Forum. The amount of wattage you need depends on your hardware. Freakitchen

Thank you! Will do.
I think I may actually run out to Best Buy as long as they carry recommended brands. ![]() ETA: BEst Buy has Antec, so I will head on over there. I just want to get this thing done. Last edited by LoraJ; 12-16-2005 at 05:55 PM. |

Best bet is to order the PSU from newegg.com. Best buy has a very limited selection of PSUs and most are just a house brand(cheap).
