Just some help..
Im building a pc (my very first time) and I did alot of reasearch on what I wanted. I just need something that will power this system and I can depend on, a Power Supply
XFX 7800GT OC x2 AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Dual Core Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe OCZ EL Platinum Revision 2 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Dual Channel Kit System Memory Western Digital 250GIG SATA2 16MB 300m MB/s I would also like to know if I should get 2 120 Drives and setup in RAID0 or just stick with the single 250GIG? is RAID0 worth the setup?? |

Wow, that is one powerful setup!
I know you didn't ask for advice on parts, but IMO running two of those graphics cards is unnecessary at the moment, one of those will play any game out at the moment, you can always add another later when they're a lot cheaper. Additionally, with such a high card and processor, you may want to up the RAM to 2 GB, to achieve better balance. Anyway, with regard to the power supply, you'll definitely want an SLI certified unit (the list is at www.slizone.com). Consider something of 600w+ for those parts. Sorry, I can't advise on the RAID issue, but someone else no doubt will. Freakitchen

Yeah, I don't think you need two 7800GT's. I'd rather see you get a single 7800GTX or even the 512 version now, and then add another in a year or two.
Personally, I wouldn't get the XFX brand, I'd rather see ASUS or eVGA brands. And as Freakitchen said, you should definitely get 2GB of RAM on this budget. RAID 0 isn't good for valuable data. So if you might be putting things on there that you wouldn't want to lose, you should avoid RAID 0, cause if one drive bites the dust, you've got half of the data missing. Look a 250GB drive with a 16MB cache (like the one you picked out). Those are very fast.

Ah, you are probably right. The two GT's is what? $700-$720? And the 512 is like $750. Well, I would just get one GTX now, and another in a year. Two of any of the 7800's is waste. One will play any game on max settings for the next years. Sure you could get two GT's, but you'd just be wasting money.
Yeah, Ultra has a bad track record, I'd avoid their power supplies. I'd look at the Seasonic 600W (or Enermax). |

Check the QVL list for the motherboard at Antec to see if that RAM is on it.
You will likely need a floppy drive during setup. Don't forget to order a copy of windows, OEM is fine and a lot cheaper than retail. There is Calculator you can use to get a rough idea of what that system will need for power.

My parents are helping me buy the PC so I dont know if I will have money later but I have it now, thats why I might stick with the 2 GTs.
Does anyone one know what "Bulk Pack No Box" means? http://www.logiccomputerhouse.com/si...detail&id=9523 I want to buy that mouse but does that mean its used? |

I very much doubt that means its used.
It's probably just the store's way of advertising an OEM product. They have probably bought a large amount of those in bulk, and are selling them as they received them. It may arrive to you in a plastic bag / bubble wrap or similar. Freakitchen |
