Finding what version of BIOS is running on my new build

I have an ASUS A8N-SLI Premium motherboard I have installed in my first build. I want to update the BIOS to the latest and greatest version. I checked (what I thought was) the BIOS and it said version 5.1.39

Going on to the ASUS Website, their versions are more like 1009, 1006, etc, etc. Looking on other forums, this is also how others have listed their BIOS version. How can I fiind out what my computer really has on it. I'm guessing it is not the 5.1.39 that flashes up upon boot-up.

Thanks

The BIOS version is shown on the first boot screen. If you have the ASUS splash screen instead, go into the BIOS and disable the splash screen so you can see the first boot screen. If the first boot screen goes by too quickly you can hit the Pause button to halt the boot process so you can read the text. Hit Enter to let the system continue to boot.
