Ultra PSU: Kind of shaky. Better, Antec
Chaintech Motherboard: Same thing. Better, ASUS
Sound Card: New motherboards usually have pretty good integrated 8 channel sound, you might want to try it before you get a card. RAM: The Value Select line will be fine and cheaper. You really only need the high end stuff for overclocking.
Floppy Drive: You are likely to need one during the setup to load drivers, SATA controllers, bios updates, diagnostics, system recovery etc..
Operating System: Get the OEM version, it will be about $100 less than the retail one.
Hard Drive: Is IDE ATA100 and only 8 Mb cache, look at the 16Mb cache SATA models. Seagate or Western Digital.
Optical Drive/s: You will need at least a CD/ROM. Liteon is a pretty good brand and ships with the burning software.

I'd stay away from the PSU and motherboard too. For the PSU, a lot of people have recommended the XClio 450 Watt supply. I just purchased one for my new build, although I can't comment on it yet since I haven't completed it. Chaintech is not the best motherboard brand; you can definitely do better.

Also ... I already have a FDD but do I need to get a new one for the OEM version OS at all or can I use my one I have ? And anyways does this stuff work together? (mainly concerned about mobo, and if I can use DDR2 RAM or not cause Im using a 184 pin and it looks like DDR2 RAM needs 240 pins?) and also if my HDD will work with the mobo because it says something like the mobo supports ATA/133 but the HDD is ATA 150 :S and I cant find one that is ATA 150 unless their really expensive, lol. Sorry but im a big newb :P and can someone please help me

Oh and BTW ... the processor is AMD 64 3800+ if I didnt mention that and I took away the soundcard from the original list because apparently I dont need it

@jayb1234 should I stay away from Ultra PSU's completely or is it just the one type that sucks, because in my new list it was always an Ultra and I will get another brand if you think they arent too expensive or something, thanks

RAM: No you can't use the DDR2, that is only used on Intel based systems.
Hard Drive: No problem there, The ATA133 refers to the IDE connections, not the SATA connections. That board has 2 IDE channels that will support 2 devices each ( hard drives or optical drives) and 4 SATA connectors for the SATA hard drives.
PSU: The second one should work ok, but isn't the best brand, But I don't know what brands you can get up there. Looked at the tigerdirect site and they dont have much of a selection. If you can Find an Antec or Enermax, they would be better, otherwise that ultra should be ok.
Floppy Drive: you can just hook the old one up outside the case if you dont want to install it permanantly
. Here is the list of approved Corsair RAM for that motherboard from the ASUS site. IF you scroll through the box at the bottom of the page there are some other modules there.
A8N-E page at ASUS

What are you going to do with this computer? Any particular reason why you have a high end CPU, but a low end video card?

Lol I never really thought about that blue ... I knew it wasnt that good but I didnt really think its low end ... but anyways I only am really wanting to use that one cause its cheap kinda and because I dont plan on doing that much gaming since I havent really got into any modern games lately. But if I do do you have a suggestion as to what kind of card to get that is less than 200 and is decent?

Also ... the kind of computer it will be is just basically instant messager, browsing the net, using Word and a little gaming dont really need thaat much graphics since currently Im playing games with pretty bad graphics Soo I do want one to be pretty fast thats why I want the 3800 processor but do you think I will even need that much? Also 1gb of RAM seems good enough anyways and is the processor good? Because its a decent price and I wasnt sure if Maxtor is reliable, anyways any help would be thankful

BTW I got my monitor today :P its a Metro 19' and it was only like $290 so i thought that was a good price but Im now thinking 19' might be to big and 17 might be ok since its cheaper too lol but im not sure yet

Yeah, you won't need a fast video card then...it's not a bad card, it's just old compared to the CPU. If this is just going to be a internet machine, I don't think you need something like the 3800+, you could probably get a way with a 3500+ or a 3200+

Another question: do you need OEM Windows XP OS for an OEM HDD? Or can you use retail or possibly the CD that comes with a prebuilt system like my crappy Celeron?

NO, OEM simply means that it dosent come in a box. And it depends the company for pre-built systems, some companys like dell only comes with a system restore cd. if you have the full liscence of XP it will work on any system, thought its 1 liscence/system

Yeah, it'll be plenty powerful. The video card is much more important in gaming, and your video card is going to be the bottleneck (limiting factor).

OK thanks a lot guys

@ nicolaus ... yeah in Canada that card is like 250 bucks so I think thats too expensive and I think this one is good enough:

XFX GeForce 6600 / 256MB DDR / PCI Express / SLI / DVI / VGA / TV-Out / Video Card
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...&sku=P450-7276

Also ... I dont know with that video card if I should stick with the 3800 or go down to the 3500? Because the 3800 is a duel-core and the 3500 is venice cord sooo is duel core for 2 HDDs or what exactly and would I even need it? Just wondering thanks
