Post Code 2A
Building a PC for my son, I have built many PCs and never had much of an issue, until now.
Here is the deal: Abit Mobo KV8 Max3 VIA KT800 chipset Phoenix D686 BIOS http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813127177 Sempron 2800+ 2 x 512MB Patriot RAM Dual Channel 256MB 9600XT video (AGP) 80GB WD HDD SATA Thermaltake PSU It has this neat little 2 digit readout on the board that goes through the post codes, tells you what its doing. PROBLEM: It gets to POST code "2A" and stops. I never get anything on the monitor. I looked up the code on google, somewhat, but not sure what I found. I am not THAT smart! Something about "Clear 512k Base memory" but I do not know what that means. I have tried replacing video, ram, HDD, all with known goods, eveything is still same. |

I have cleared the CMOS about 30 times, including removing the batery a few times. That has had no affect. I clear it any time I make a change, or reseat the RAM and video.

I have tried 4 or 5 different sticks of RAM from other working systems, I have also used 3 different video cards, as well as 2 different CPUs. None of these change the issue.
I am sure it is something else, but I do not know what. |

Well it really does sound like you've tried everything... I hate to break it to you (though you're probably thinking the same).... But I think that board's faulty. Send it back
![]() I honestly don't know what else you can do... |

You may want to start your own thread, you'll get much better help that way. Be sure to post your system specs (by brand and model, including power supply).

I know it's been a while, but unfortunatly this code means your mobo is dead.
at this point you need an rma. Thats what i did and have happy coustomers!
