What do you guys think?

Well.....hopefully in a few months, I can start ordering parts, and start this project. Lol, this may seem ridiculous, buuuut, I personally think it is kind of cool . Anyways, here's the specs:
AMD Athlon 64 4000
Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe
Two 250gb seagate barracuda 7200rpm HDD's
SONY IDE DVD Burner Model DRU810A
SONY IDE CD-r/w Combo Drive Model CRX320EE/B2S
TWO evga 7800gt 256mb video cards
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic 8 (7.1) Channels PCI Interface
4gb of corsair xms memory
Just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for any better parts than i have listed? Also, buying it all from newegg, and Havn't picked a case out yet

Just a couple of thing's id suggest.

Firstly, I'd get a single 7800GTX card, it will most likely cost you less than your two GT cards, perform well, and leave your options open for buying another further down the road as you need to upgrade.

I also don't see the gain in purchasing 4GBs of RAM. Half that will handle anything you can throw at it for some time.

Additionally, you've got some powerful parts there. Make sure you choose a high quality SLI-Certified Power supply, the list can be found at www.slizone.com (the faqs).

I think that will be a smoking fast system. However, I agree with freakitchen, I would get a 7800GTX OR a 7800GTX 512 and drop down to 2 gigs of ram. That will do everything the system above will do and be the same or less in price (depending on which vid card you use). You can come back later and add another vid card when they're cheaper, and can add more ram if you find the need for it. I doubt you will for quite a while unless you do a LOT of video encoding or other media work.

Fans...lots of fans=)...and to make it look even cooler, throw in one of those Temperature Display that can let you change speeds of each fan.

For case choice, get yourself something without a Power Supply - it will allow you to choose a good one.

For the most efficient cooling, choose something with 2 x 120mm fans, front and back. This will be quiet too, since the larger fans run slowly.

Ok i know that freakitchen said not to get a case with power supply but check out this case... Its not the best but its hot!!! The power supply is pretty decent i got one running in my system. It says 500 watts and it can actualy reach the max load (500 watts) perfectly. Its got a 20 or 24 pin and its really cool looking. Also its not that loud.

Aspire PSUs are not what I'd consider to be quality...nor are they SLI Certified. I'm sure many experienced forum members would agree with me on this one.

When you're spending so much money on parts, you want to make sure they're not going to go up in smoke.

Right, if you are going with SLI you must get a SLI Certified power supply.

Even if you don't, Aspire is one of the worst manufacturer's out there, and is something I would not use with such expensive parts.

That Antec is a very good PSU and it is SLI certified... If you find a case you with with a PSU just toss it in a closet and put in the Antec 550watt one to power your rig.... all the parts are compatible however I have heard there are some issues with the X-Fi and Nforce4 boards... I assume this has been corrected, but you might want a second opinion on that sound card )even though it is totally awesome) before you spend your money.

Do you have an Operating System, Speakers, Monitor, Keyboard and mouse you are looking at purchasing?

You will want to look for a monitor which is DVI compatible, and you will want some nice quality speakers if you go with that sound card to get the best sound possible out of it.... and if you are an MS guy, look at the OEM versions of Xp (home or pro - pro if you need the added features of it) in its 32 bit version for now as there are not sufficient 64 bit drivers for SLI, the 32 bit ones however are well developed.

As for operating system, I was just going to get XP pro. Still looking at speakers, mine now kind of suck. Don't really need a monitor though. Also don't need a keyboard, and I have a really nice mouse....so I'm set on those two!

Do you need some specific feature of XP Pro? If not, save the money and get XP Home OEM.

Two HDD's, 2 optical drives, 2 video cards might think 600w or more. Those sli cards need a lot of juice. Add a fancy case with lights and......you get the picture.

If u wont a nice looking case i would look at some of the Thermaltake Xaser models. To me they are the best looking ones out there on the market. Puls none of them come with a PSU for them to.
