New PC Build
What do you guys think of this build?
Case: http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16811105114 PSU: http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16817153023 MOBO: http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16813131569 CPU: http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16819103539 HD: http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16822148065 RAM: http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16820145440 Video: http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16814131317 Optical: http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16827152060 Monitor: http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16824179015 Mouse: http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16826104178 KB: http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16823144006 Speakers: http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16836121118 I have a copy of Windows, so don't worry there. Total of everything (monitor, speakers, mouse, kb, etc) must be 1200 US dollars max. The latest gaming I want to do with this is play World of Warcraft, and if i do, it won't be all the time (few times a week). I will also play older games, such as starcraft, half-life, warcraft 3, etc. Non-gaming apps will include dvd editing, watching, burning, stuff like that, as well as macromedia, programming, other office apps, and internet/music. If anyone has suggestions as to what is better, or can give me advice, please let me know. This will be my first ever build, hopefully. I had a couple other PC ideas in mind, but I wanted to cut the budget to only 1200 dollars max, instead of 1800. I'd appreciate any input. Thanks. |

Noticed that the video card you selected is out of stock.
Also, the case you selected comes with a PSU, maybe find one without a PSU and save a few bucks. I think that you need to go to a ATX 2 PSU.

Like flanzig1 said get a case with out a PSU and get one that has a 24 pin conector to the motherbaored going to need one for that build. But everything else looks goood to me looks like it will play anything you throw at it.

that case is one that i really like, and has nice features (extremely nice looks and front audio ports and usb are important as hell to me)... and that PSU has a 20+4 main pin connector, so i should be fine... just one question about the video card though... i notice its only 128 bit on the memory interface... would the really high speeds be able compensate for that, or do you think i should get this one?:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814131311 i notice this one has only 8 pipelines, and has slightly slower speeds, but is 256 bit... heres another one i was looking at: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102589 the only problem with this card, is i dont know the speeds on it... i dont know which one to get... im a little confused with pixel pipelines, core clock, memory clock, and all that stuff |

Think of the number of pixal pipelines as the number of lanes on a road. More lanes or pipelines the bigger volume of video info that can be pushed out. Higher the clocks number, faster the video is processed and sent out.

so do you think a card with really high speeds at 8 pipelines will be better than a card with 12 pipelines at lower speeds?
