Working on another Build Question!
Here are the Specs:
Mother Board: ASUS A8N5X Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail Processor:AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego 1GHz FSB 1MB L2 Cache Socket 939 Processor - Retail I am also thinking about the AMD Athlon 64 3800+ Venice 1GHz FSB 512KB L2 Cache Socket 939 Processor - Retail. The only difference in these two processors is one has 2.2GHz [San Diego] and the other has 2.4GHz [Venice] of Operating Frequency. Is this difference worth $60? I am not a serious gamer this Build will be for mostly Internet, Burning Music, and some multitasking. System Memory: CORSAIR XMS 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit System Memory - Retail or CORSAIR XMS 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit System Memory - Retail. The only difference I see in these two is one has a Cas Latency of 3 and the other is CL2. This is a $30 difference is it worth it? What is Cas Latency? Also this memeory :CORSAIR XMS 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM ECC Registered DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit System Memory - Retail is $325. What is the big difference in these three? Hard Drive:Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 ST3300831AS 300GB 7200 RPM 8M Cache Serial ATA150 Hard Drive - OEM Video Card:eVGA 256-P2-N381 Geforce 6800XT 256MB 256-bit DDR PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail Case:Antec Solution SLK1650 Beige Steel ATX Mini Tower Computer Case 350W Power Supply - Retail. Will this 350W power supply be enough for this system? |

I wouldn't get XMS RAM - it's overkill, unless you plan on doing serious overclocking. Cas Latency is basically the amount of time it takes to retrieve data from data. The last stuff you've got listed is ECC memory, which is for servers, so it is un-needed.
350W is awfully light for this system. I'd look at some of the Antec power supplies in the 430-480W range.

O.K. so i'll go with a Antec TRUEPOWERII TPII-550 ATX12V 550W Power Supply and some CORSAIR ValueSelect 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM Unbuffered DDR2 533 (PC2 4200) Dual Channel Kit System Memory - Retail.
Thanks for your help! |

240 pin DDR2 RAM won't work in that system. You need 184 pin DDR400 RAM.
