question about DDR SDRAM

I have a new build that is running fine but i am confused about RAM. I have one stick of CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200) System Memory RAM and everything is running fine.

The question is - is this the kind of RAM that is supposed to run in pairs? Of course, I am thinking that if this is so things would not be working but I want to know for sure.

No, RDRAM is what your thinking about, it has to be run in pairs and with blanks. Some motherboards support Dual DDR, which is running DDR in pairs of 2, which improves preformance by about 15%.

No, you don't have to run it in pairs...running 1 stick is fine.

You may be thinking of Dual Channel DDR. Depending on whether your motheboard supports it or not, Dual Channel DDR can improve system performance a bit if you run matched pairs of RAM. But it's not a requirement for actually running the computer.
