graphics card problem ati radeon 9800 pro

hi there

a while ago i bought a ic7-g motherboard with a ati radeon 9800 pro graphics card, but when i installed it,it dont work,no picture comes up on the monitor, the graphics card is getting power as i can feel the fan spinning,i also tried it with another more powerful graphics card and it still dont work, then i tried it with a old tnt2 and then it works i get a picture on the screen. Why dont the previous 2 graphics cards work?Is it compatibility issue?I have done some research online and found that other people have built a system that has a ic7-g motherboard with a radeon 9800 pro which works. What am i doing wrong?Any help will be apreciated thx

regards

wai

What kind of power supply do you have (brand and wattage)?

oh im quite sure it isnt my power supply,i cant remember the brand, but i previously had a power supply that does something like 300 watts but now my friend gave me his one which is future proof and does something up to like 500 watts but with that,it still doesnt work, anyways on one of the cards i tried, its ment to adapts its performance to the power supply if like you have a lower power supply(as in decrease its performance) but still it doesnt work neverless

How does a video card "adapt" to the power supply? Video cards don't slow down, they either work at full speed or they don't work at all.

Just because it's 500W doesn't mean it's plenty powerful enough. If you can't remember the brand it's probably a horrible brand, and isn't putting out anything near 500W.

Do you (or a friend) have another system to test the video card in?

my friend said that it has that technology if the power supply doesnt supply enough power to it,think its kinda new as the card retails around about 350 at the mo,also this graphics card and the power supply is from his old machine and he gave it to me and it was working on his old machine,im thinking it might be somthing wrong with my motherboard configurations? Why does my motherboard work for my nvidia riva tnt2(old) and not for other graphic cards? It does go into the same slot and other people on the net have made it work?Me and my friends are all confused by this,i have flashed the bios, installed intel inf chipsets,i dont know what is going on

thx for the help
