Just finished building, Few Problems

Ok i just finished building my new comp yesterday. Everything smooth and fine. Just one thing that is annoying me. See my computer for some reason is acting really slow. This is a pretty nice high-endish build and im suprised at the performance im getting. For example things just keep freezing up for a minuite randomly. Like suddenly i click something and no response. You know what i mean? Its just going very slow and has small freeze-ups. Do i need to do some BIOS Tweaking or what? Cuz i left everything at default in the bios. BTW heres my specs:

ASUS P5GD1 ATX Motherboard
Intel P4 3.0ghz, Skt.775 Presscott Core 2mb L2 Cache
OCZ Platinum 2GB DDR 400 (2x1gb)
Seagate 160gb, 7200rpm hard drive
ATi Radeon 256mb X800 Pro Video Card
Thermaltake SilentPower 420W Power supply
Pioneer DVD-RW, Sony Floppy

Can you help me make my computer run smoother?

Is everything seated properly? You might try running 1 stick of RAM at a time.

Yes im pretty sure everythings fine, and my cpu temp is steady at 42-43C. And what do you mean by running 1 stick of ram at a time? Why? I bought 2 sticks and shouldnt i use both??? Not being offensive im just curioius as to why

You run 1 stick at a time to see if the computer runs better or not. If it does then the other stick may be faulty.

Did you install the motherboard chipset drivers and device drivers?

No offense taken Mr.Ferrari. The reason I suggested using one stick of RAM at a time was for the reason Cricket posted. I had a very similar problem a year or so ago and it was a faulty stick of RAM.
