Minor confusion

Hey guys,

I have been trying to assemble my computer using the tech forums and the "Build your own PC" guide on the website and have been a great help.

My confusion is in which slot will the cd/dvd drive cable will go on the motherboad.
I have only 1 Seagate 120gb with SATA 3.0Gb/s interface hard drive and ATAPI/E-IDE DVD burner. The hard disk has only SATA interface. My motherboard is Asus A8N SLI deluxe.

My motherboard list 2 IDE slots Primary and secondary. In the guide on the website, it is mentioned to put the optical drive in the secondary slol for separate channels incase you have IDE hard drive. But since I am using only SATA hard drive, should I put it in primary or secondary IDE slot or it doesnot make a difference ?

Also, for jumper settings, should I put optical drive as master?

This is my first build so I am pretty sure, this might be a stupid thing to ask.

Thanx guys

Put the DVD drive on the primary IDE channel. As for jumpering, if you have 80-wire IDE cables (with blue, black, and grey connectors), jumper the drive as Cable Select and plug it into the black connector on the end. Otherwise, jumper it as Master and plug it into the end connector.

I have the IDE cable with blue black and grey connectors. Will do the same as instructed.

Thank you very much for the quick reply.
