newbie build - unusual error message

hi guys,

thought i had done well, fully built first time with no probs. but then....

installing windows xp and an error message appears after the reboot saying

"a components file does not match the verification information present in the component manifest"

and then i cried.

I've checked the ram, it works fine in another comp.

Any ideas greatly appreciated!!

Damien

It's caused by faultly hardware... usually bad RAM.

How many sticks of RAM do you have installed? If more than one, try just one or the other.

It's possible the MotherBoard or Hard Drive is bad... are both of them new or tested?

Is this a brand new build? Did the hard drive have an existing OS on it? Which one are you trying to use?

Are all the parts brand new or are you using a used motherboard?

Try clearing the CMOS.
