Help I got a black screen

This is my problem. I upgraded my case and have added a DVD Rom drive. Hooked everything up, PC turns on goes to the motherboard logo and P4 logo in the bottom screen. Then it goes to a black screen with a cursor line blinking in the upper left corner like it used to. Then it's supposed to go windows. But it doesn't. It sits there, if I hit Cntrl, Alt, Del. it restarts and does the same thing. Anyone know whats going on?
Please help me
THx in advance

Have the IDE cable oriented properly, with DVD set to Cable Select? Anything sharing the cable with the new drive?

Nope none of that was the problem. I pulled everything PSU cables. out and while doing this I noticed the the X850XT PE and my boot drive were on the same PSU cable. ATI said to do than to save cable space. IT DOESN"T WORK!!!!. So I plugged the Boot HDD into another cable and it works.
Thx for the quick reply though.

Srry fo my newb panic attack.

Is the HDD still the boot drive in the BIOS? Maybe the optical (new DVD ROM) is the boot device and C:/ drive needs to be.

Are they on the same cable?? If so the HDD needs to be at the end and the jumper set to master and the DVD ROM as slave if using a 40 conductor cable. If you are using an 80 conductor set them both to cable select and put the HDD at the end and the DVD ROM in the center.

If they are not on the same cable the above does not matter but be sure the HDD is on the end of it's cable.

In edit...I type too slow :P LOL
