Welcome to PCMechanic, arakis!

What brand is that PSU? Make sure you have the motherboard BIOS speaker hooked up in order to hear BIOS beeps. Try this, so you can start ruling out the motherboard shorting/groundng to the case and if you have any defective parts.

The BIOS speaker (PC case speaker actually) is the speaker attached to the front of the chassis or to the plastic face plate. You connect the speaker connection to the correct pins on the front panel header. The motherboard manual will have a diagram of the layout of the front panel header pins and the location of the header on the motherboard.

Make sure that graphics card is slotted in all the way . you shouldnt be able to see the golden notches on it above the slot. I had no picture years ago , and it was down to a new board and card not fitting in correctly.

Aspire makes lousy power supplies. You should replace it with one from a quality brand as soon as you can.
Is the 4 pin auxillary power connector near the CPU plugged in?

You still using that Aspire power supply? Right there might be the problem. Or the CPU could be overheating.

Regans the original problem was that i didnt plug in the aux power lol

The new problem is the shut down. that i mentioned above.

Blue how many watts do you suggest to get for my powersupply? And should I replace the stock fan on my CPU? i was looking at a Thermaltake CL-P0114 120mm Cooling Fan/Heatsink read some reviews on Newegg they say its good. Any other ideas guys?

I'm thinking maybe 500W from a good solid brand: Antec, Enermax, Seasonic, XClio, Forton Source (FSP), just to name a few.

The stock cooler should be fine...using a aftermarket one would void the warranty.
