Video card woes
This is my first computer built from scratch but I have done a variety of upgrades on other computers.
I got all the components new except for the video card which i took out of my old computer. The video card is a NVIDIA RIVA TNT2. I installed everything and everything worked, I completely finished all the program instilations but I restarted my computer after installing Norton the monitor didn't turn on. Fearing I had fried my video card i put the old card back into the old computer and it booted up fine. I then decided to put the new hard drive into the old computer and finish some program downloads, but the boot up could not find the hard drive. So i put my XP CD in to reinstall windows and it still could not find the hard drive. What went wrong when? everything worked so well but so breifly. Thanks ATX Intel Motherboard- ASRock 775V88+ Socket T (LGA 775) VIA PT880 1GB DDR 300GB HD- Maxtor NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 DVD burner DVD/CD player |

My guess is the card is 2X-4X and that Motherboard has a 4X-8X AGP slot.

New developments
On further inspection I realized that the computer is nolonger making the initial beep. My motherboard warned not to install a 3.3v video card. The information I could find on the NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 video card did not state if it was 3.3v or not.
Did I fry my mother board? I put in a new MSI NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700LE video card but no response. Thanks |
