Exclamation not booting and CPU fan stops

When I boot my computer I get a yellow light next to the DDR 3 slot and get one yellow and one light at the bottome of the mobo. The CPU fan also stops after a couple of seconds and I get nothing on the screen. I hear one beep when the computer starts. This is my first build, please help.

Please post the full specs of the computer.

Might want to try this. You are trying to see if the motherboard is shorting with the case, so the motherboard must be out of the case.

A signal Beep at the beggining of a system, signafy that all the hardware is correct and in place (everything works)

A yellow light is not a good thing, green light should be good: First, disconnect all IDE, SATA and SCSI drives and peripherals. Basically all you want connected is the mouse, keyboard and monitor. Turn the monitor on, wait 20 seconds and turn the PC on. Does anything appear on the monitor? Any error messages at all? If nothing shows up, it might be the motherboard, but it could just as easily be the power supply, RAM, or CPU.

When I start it up I get the Lanparty logo and then I can get into the BIOS but I still get the lights and the CPU fan still stops.

um this is deffinatly a hardware problem, i would check by replacing your ram, cpu and or powersupply. if you dont have the ways to replace them, bring your pc to a local pc shop, theyll do it for you, since they have the equipment

I know the cpu is in fully, but it might be the artic silver. Not sure if I put to much on and I did have a little trouble with the heatsink/fan.

I heard artic silver was overall better and better for overclocking in another forum so I went with that. Is that bad?

What kind of HS do you have? Stock?

Some heatsink fans are known to go off for a period of time, and when the processor heats up they kick on again (i really think its a stupid idea, but apparently manufacturers dont). Is there an option in the bios to disable any features like AMD's "Cool n quiet" for example?

Also if you used the stock heatsink did you make sure to remove the thermal pad before applying arctic silver?

Read your motherboard manual to find out what the lights mean, im sure they have explinations in there.

yes, im using the stock hsf and yes i took off the thermal pad before applying artic silver. I heard that the fan stopping and going is probibly right, but I wam going to change it in the BIOS. The one red light is still bothering me and the manual says nothing about lights.

The fan does eventually start up again, correct?

Besides that does everything work correctly? If so i wouldent sweat the lights, my Abit motherboard has a green light, and red light...both have always been lit since i built this rig...and it has no problems at all.

I put the fan to start up at 30 degrees so it does work. I guess your right about the lights. I just don't wanna install everything to have something go wrong or be unstable.
