Please help me. I've built over 10 pc's and this is my first hiccup.
Case is Suntec Xblade, MOBO is ECS 848P-A7 memory is mushkin, I tried to power it up but it just won't give the system any juice. No power anywhere. No fan movement. My keyboard gets powered up and it's lights blinked when I hit the power swicth by the power supply ( near the 115v - 220v switch) Please email me any recomendations on how to troubleshoot. Thanks to all in advance |

Do you see a green LED light up on the motherboard when it is connected to a poswer source?
Do you have the front panel switch hooked up correctly to the motheboard header? |

What brand is the power supply?
Are you sure you got the PWR ON connector on the right pins? Do the troubleshooter that pam123 linked to and then post the results. Cricket

I actually see a red light on the motherboard. I shorted out the power oins per manual on th MOBO and secured the correct pin from the front panel connector. It now works but after installing win2000 Pro I get an error message "Kmode exception not handled" address 804F0E46 BAse at 80400000

You can read this : http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;275678
but I'm doubtful about how much help it will be. One suggestion I came across has to do with PATA controllers that support IDE 66/100,they have to be left in PIO mode, not DMA. It seems to be a problem with some motherboards ( there's a further suggestion that it's a problem with some IDE cables) so if you used a PATA drive check this out and if you have DMA enabled switch it back and see what happens. |
