Hardware\Driver Conflict?

Problem PC

Athlon XP 2600+ Barton
Gigabyte GA-7NF-RZ
1GB (2x512mb) Corsair VS DDR400
PNY GeForce 6200 128MB <----THIS IS NOT THE TURBO CACHE TYPE
Onboard Audio
Obboard NIC

Also attached is a report generated using Everest@Home for more hardware info if needed.

PC Background

This is my backup computer incase the Athlon64 goes down. I use it regulary to re-encode DVD Video with CCE @ 10 Passes. It works great and only takes about 750-800 minutes Other then that the wife uses it for general stuff like paying bills and buying shoes It never crashes, locks, or misses a beat. I'm posting this in the new build forum because really all I did was slap it together and let her go and until recently haven't had any problems.

The Problem

The other night a friend of mine was over and we were going to play some games over lan. Fired up FlatOut, he setup a profile, chose his car, joined the lan game I had setup on my other computer, and when the game started the computer froze. Audio and video just locked. Waited for about 5 minutes to see if it would reboot or CTD but it did not. Manually reset the PC and tried again with the same results. Tried a few other games, even an oldie, Rainbow Six(the original), just to see the system was being stressed too much and got the same results.

What I've Tried And Will Try

I reinstalled all chipset, audio, and video drivers with no change. I'm going to disable the onboard audio and drop an old, but functional, 4.1 soundcard in. I'll also try a different video card. I can't do anything for a couple of days though as I will be out of town so I'd like some suggestions for when I return. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

^BUMP^

Could really use some help here guys. I'm about to swap onboard audio for a soundcard. If that doesn't work I'll try the GFX. Will report back with results.

Make sure the CPU fan and heatsink aren't clogged with dust, and the same for the fan on the video card. Have you got the latest install of DirectX? You could try downloading the latest drivers for the video card. Check the overheat possiblity first though. Also, do you know if CodeGen is a quality PSU? You got enough wattage on it, but stability comes into play just as much as sufficient wattage does.

That PSU is a good suspect. It is from a known bad manufacturer, and could be having trouble keeping up with the demand that your components are putting on it.

The machine did need a good cleaning but that wasn't the issue. I knew someone would bring up the PSU... they always do. PSU is fine. Rails are strong and this PSU was pushing my 64bit system fine until I purchased a new one through trouble shooting my 64 build when it was new and problematic.

That being said... I did figure out the problem. Killing the onboard audio and installing a soundcard fixed the lockups and games run fine. Thanks for the input guys.
