i have a question. is it ok for my system if i use an older graphics card until i get my new one?

my system

MSI K8NNeo4 Platinum Socket 939 Motherboard

Premium Blue 2526 ATX 400w 20/24 pin Mid-T / Handl

AMD Athlon 64 3700+ (SanDiego) Socket 939 BOXED

Seagate 300GB Serial ATA HD 7200/8MB/S-ATA-150

NEC ND-3550 Beige 16x DVD Burner in Retail Box

Corsair 2048MB PC3200 DDR 400MHz (2 x 1024MB)

my old graphics card is a BFG GeForce FX 5500 OC/ PCI / 256mb DDR

my newer card is a eVGA GeForce 6800 GT / 512MB DDR3 / PCI Express / Dual DVI / TV-Out / Video Card

can i use my older card for the time being or should i just hold off until i get the newer one?

You can use that old card until you get your new one without any problems. You may have to limit yoru game settings (if you play) to what the old card can handle.
