Question New PC build Help

Hello very soon i am going to be building my first PC! Because i am completely new to this i need a bit of help with the specification that i have so far and just want to make sure it is decent and that the components are compatible. I have chosen a store near me for easy pick up etc. called computer orbit which provides decent prices

Below is the specification:

Memory:
1GB DDR2 PC4200 533MHZ CORSAIR BRANDED
http://www.computerorbit.co.uk/Itemd...200COR&eq=&Tp=

Motherboard:
ASUS P5GD2-X-EAYZ MOTHERBOARD 775
http://www.computerorbit.co.uk/Itemd...P5GD2X&eq=&Tp=

Processor:
INTEL P4 640 3.2GHz 800MHz 2MB 775
http://www.computerorbit.co.uk/Itemd...800640&eq=&Tp=

Graphics Card
512MB NVIDIA SPARKLE GEFORCE 6600V+
http://www.computerorbit.co.uk/Itemd...600SPA&eq=&Tp=

Case:
XBLADE 8110B ADVANCE BLACK CASE 460W PSU
http://www.computerorbit.co.uk/Itemd...=8110B&eq=&Tp=

Hard Drive:
160GB MAXTOR SATA 8MB
http://www.computerorbit.co.uk/Itemd...AXSATA&eq=&Tp=

The other bits of hardware such as sound card, monitor, keyboard, Mouse, CD/DVD drives are going to be taken off my current Dell 8200 and used on the new computer. One component i am not sure about is the graphics card as i am not sure if it is all that good i want to play games on this system but do not want an overpriced card to do this, my friend currently has a 6600 on AGP and he can run games such as HL2 on high settings.

Also one other query is if the hard drive listed in this specification (SATA) will be able to run alongside the hard drive i currently have in the 8200 computer (IDE) drive.

Thanks for any help

My only change would be 2X512MB of RAM instead of the single 1G stick.
Your IDE and SATA drives should work fine together.

Not important,
Any reason for the 2x512 instead of the 1Gb? Is it cost or something else?

You need two identical sticks of RAM to enable Dual Channel DDR.

The power supply in that case might be an issue.
The site you linked to diidn't have any specifications on it which is a bad sign.
You are likely to need a floppy drive during thhe setup.
You will have to buy a new copy of windows too.

ok guys cheers for replys
Yeh i have seen quite a few problems on these forums that involved the PSU but i think i will continue with this one until there is a problem. I will be taking the floppy drive off my current computer also. But i was wondering why i would need to buy a new copy of Windows XP when i currently have the CD with my computer now
Thanks again

Without wishing to labour the point, this probably isn't a good idea. Once there is a problem with low quality PSUs, it's often too late for the rest of your parts. I'd strongly advise replacing it for a quality unit. Overclockers.co.uk have a good range.

If you are wishing to re-use your copy of Windows on the new build, you need to confirm you have the original Windows disc, and not just a set of 'restore discs' that brand name manufacturers such as Dell ship with their PCs. If you have the original, then as long as you remove the copy from your current PC, then you should have no problems re-activating on the new machine.
