Asus board..no video or POST... called them... here was the answer
My board is an ASUS A8N-SLI....
I called them and told them what I was experiencing with my Motherboard when I try to get it to POST and it won't; told them about swapping RAM and trying other video cards........ they asked me the normal questions about my set up but when I gave them my CPU (Athlon 64 3700+) they asked me what core... I told them it was a San Diego core... he said....oooohhh, that's the problem......he told me that the BIOS chip on the board would need to be re-flashed... they don't work with this new core... I needed BIOS version 1014 that came out Dec. 21st....it is listed on a green or yellow sticker on the BIOS chip next to the CMOS battery...I asked if I could tell in the store which was new and which was old without opening them.... he said no... So if you are having a problem with getting a board to POST and it is ASUS, this is something you might want to check... it is not just San Diego according to the guy I spoke with... They were going to charge me 20 bucks for sending me a new chip or I could send them mine and they would flash it... I asked for overnight delivery and he told me that is was 20 dollars for the shipping and he would waive the fee for the chip to keep the cost down... so be sure to ask for overnight shipping if you need one... |

That's why it's always a good idea to check a manufacturer's site to see what CPUs will work in which motherboards.
