restart boot loops
I just built a new computer. When I started it for the first time, I went into bios and set date and time. then exited and saved. Then placed xp pro os install disk into dvd drive and everything started good. formated the hd, then loaded setup, after this step it said "system will reboot, after reboot system will continue to setup". After the computer rebooted, the motherboard screen shows up and says hit delete to enter setup.
if you dont hit delete, it brings up a dos type screen then the system restarts. it will do this endlessly. if in bios i setup for the dvd drive to boot first, then when the dos type screen appears it says hit any key to boot from cd. when i hit a key and it boots the xp os does not continue to install it starts all over. What is going on? and how do I fix? MY System: new cooler max cavalier atx case new sata 120gb hd seagate new nec dvd+-r dual layer drive new amd 64 3200 processor new a8n-e asus mother board new antec true power 550w psu new powercolor x800gto vid card no floppy, no 2nd hd, no 2nd cd/dvd, no sound card |

ok try this, put the CD as first boot, reformat the drive, install it when it says reboot, let it reboot, dont i say again dont touch the DEL button when it restarts. so then its going to show you the screen "push to boot from CD" dont touch anything, and it should continue, if its stuck at "push to boot from CD" screen for more then 30sec post back here.

Try it with one stick of ram. Been seeing way too many ram issues lately with XP installation hang ups.

It does'nt stick it loops
when I tried to reformat and let it run its thing it keeps restarting then going to the "hit any key to boot from cd" then restarts, over and over and over.

ok so when it shows "hit any key to boot from cd" and you dont push anything the pc restarts?
just to clarify, when this shows up "hit any key to boot from cd" dont touch anything, cause you dont want to boot from the cd again |

i mean in the BIOS you can set up the boot priority like first boot is CD, second boot is HD, 3rd boot is floppy
try the other stick |
