CPU fan
Ok, im working on my first build as we speak,
Im using an AMD 64 4000+ 939 socket. The cpu went into the socket without a hitch, however I cant seem to get the fan on. I can get one side cliped on but when I try to do the other side I need to use a lot of force and it wont seem to go on. I'm afraid to break it or crush the processer. Are you supposed to need to use force to clip it on. |

It takes a lot of force - more than you would think - but you have to check to make sure you are attaching it the right way (like the picture shows). If need be, it is easier to attach outside the case, then put the motherboard with the CPU and heat sink in the case.

yes its outside the case, and im pretty sure its in right,
Is itgoing to hurt the heatsink compound that was factory applies on the fan since I took the fan off after I tried to install it once already and it looks like some compound rubbed off on the processor |

there is a video on AMD's site that shows how to do it. I've only built one machine, it takes some force, but I wouldn't say a lot of force. check it out here:
