Hey, so I am a first-time PC builder, finally bought my new ATI graphics card, and when I boot up the PC I get no video at all, and no beeps. I do get power to the fans and all of the case lights come on, but there is no video or beep signals. I also don't get power to my DVD/CD-ROM drive, and it's connected to the power supply, which does come on. I'm not sure what specifics you need, I'm using a Gigabyte motherboard, an AMD dual-core processor, and an ATI Radeon x850 Graphics card, 1 GB memory, 120G Maxtor hard drive, 500W power supply. Any help would be greatly, GREATLY appreciated. Thanks.
Sincerely and desperately, A chick who wishes to engage in some hardcore gaming on her new PC |

When it comes up dead, the first thing I try to do is to get it to beep to rule out the motherboard. The speaker might not be put in right, and make sure that works. Then I would take out the video card and see if it beeps. After that I would try taking out the ram and see if that gets a beep. If that doesn't work, try taking the battery out and let the CMOS reset, and then try it one at a time.
If you have onboard video on the motherboard, try plugging it into that slot without the AGP card plugged in. Also I know some older AGP cards won't run on the new 8x boards so check that too. |

Did this computer ever work?
What brand is the power supply? Does it have a 20 pin or 24 pin motherboard power connection? Cricket
