startup with no hdd

I think I have everything in correctly except for the HDD, its arriving tomorrow.
Can I start it up without the HDD to make sure all the fans and switchs work,and if i can should I look for anything else, should it give a POST beep with no HDD.

you you can, if you want, you could use a boot floppy and just boot to dos.

I didnt install a floppy drive, I'm going to install the XP from a bootable cd. Good idea though!

well that just shows another reason to install one, you never know when you might need it, and for 8 dollars is not to save money.
