Unhappy have to reset CMOS to reboot...

ASUS A8N-SLi Deluxe
AMD 64 X2 4400+
nVidia extreme 7800GTX

I'm able to get to the BIOS, but after I enter my settings and reboot, the screen goes blank. If I power down and reboot, nothing comes up. I have to reset the CMOS in order to get anything to come up on the monitor again, at which point I have to renter the BIOS and the whole circle starts again. I have tried two separate A8N-SLi motherboards. I've also tried two different sets of RAM (one Kingston one Crucial), two different optical drives and even two different motherboard batteries. I am at a serious loss of what to do. I've called ASUS and they suggested it would be the BIOS chip, but using a different motherboard should have solved that, I think.....

Any suggestions?

Well, I've tried setting the time and date and setting the boot order, just setting the date or making absolutely no changes. I get the same result every time. Even if I don't enter BIOS, it tells me it can't find the boot disk (XP in in the drive) and if I reset from there, I get the same result....
