operating sytem question
i have a 3 year old Dell dimension 2350 that was given to me as a gift. it comes with a windows XP reinstallation disk and a resource CD. Can i use those cds with a home built system or do i need to buy a new copy of windows XP?

If im Not Mistaken doesnt Dell Make Thier CDs For Only Thier Dell Computers? like say you try installing it it will give you a error saying that its not a dell computer... i had a compaq and my dad got it repaired not knowing they switched the Mobo so when it came for me to Reformat it sayed that its not a compaq computer
well im not too sure of dell my mother has one in her office and thier factory Cd's i think are made just for Dells! Correct me if im Wrong

i have heard that too. i guess it is true then....damn that means i gotta drop 100 bucks for windows XP what a joke

No. you can't reuse a Dell OS cd on another system, the liscense is tied to the specific machine it shipped with.
