question about installation order
Hi all,
I've been looking around these forums for the past week and have learned a great deal already. I've got all the parts for a new computer that I am going to put together this weekend. After reading a lot of the posts here, I have answered most of the questions that I've had. However, I am wondering about a few steps. I understand the basic order of operations for the installation of hardware, but not about some of the software. Specifically, do I install the chipset drivers for the motherboard before I attempt to install windows xp? If not, do I install xp first and then the chipset drivers? thanks, edietz |

You must install Windows XP before anything else. This process involves booting from the Windows CD and partitioning your hard drive accordingly...it's a step by step process that's fully explained.
Only then should you install your chipset drives, followed by your video card drivers. Freakitchen

Cool. Thanks. I figured this was true but I thought it was a good idea to ask.
