Newegg issues
Has anyone had this problem with newegg. I bought a video card from them (new retail). I opened the outer shipping box only to discover that the video card box was open and the instead of the card being in the anti-static bag it was in bubble wrap. In fact it was so obviously opened that the disk and all the cords fell out of the retail box and were in the outer shipping box. I RMAed it and am waiting for a new one(it didnt work in my new build).

Maybe NewEgg's golden days are in the rearview mirror.

Did you buy the OEM version of the card? If so, that might be how the ship it. Just a thought...................

It wasn't a refurb was it? Of course, I don't think those come with the extras.

Yeah. The rep I recently talked to on the phone about my problem sounded burnt out and needed a vacation.

I'm thinking like blue60007 here. It might have been a refurb. I have in the past gotten into a hurry and accidentally clicked on a refurb unit but caught the mistake before the purchase. I'm sure it was not anything deliberate on Newegg's part.

That sounds like a refurb then. Or maybe it's out of stock?

I still think I bought the new one and they sent me an open one. Even if I did buy a refurb, which I dont think I did, it still should have been better protected so that all the parts didnt fall out of the retail box into the shipping box.(especially with electronics)

Post on resellerratings.com with your thoughts. Their exec support guy monitors that very closely, and will do just about anything to get you to change their rating back to very good.
I've never had a problem with them, or their customer service. However, if they aren't willing to help through normal means, play hardball and talk to exec support. They'll get it taken care of.

Same with me. I bought every part for my computer when I was building it off there and had no problems what so ever. I was even willing to pay the NJ tax for everything because I heard such good things about them and their service. Everything got here a day early and in perfect condition. I don't know if they're beat from Christmas season right now, in the middle of doing inventory or what, but I hope they get back on track.

I *think* that most places use the term "refurb" too loosely and that the term also includes "open box" items. I've purchased only one "refurb" item from Newegg and it was Not a refurb but an open box item. The "refurb" monitor even had hand prints all over it and was not packaged very well.
Also, with the thousands of orders a day (hundreds, at least), it's not humanly possible to be perfect, whether it's Newegg or another company. Even with an occasional screwup, Newegg's rating is very high and above "average." |

I'm not sure what the heck is going on at Newegg. I normally have excellent service from them. 2 weeks ago I purchased 10 monitors from them for my clerical area at work. I had my purchasing group order from Newegg it was like pulling teeth to get them to confirm our order. Then I ordered a wireless card and an access point from them over a week ago I still am waiting for it.
I guess I'm just a little disappointed. In the past I would only buy from them. Now I will probably not be so quick to order from them. deck |

Wow, another bad story. I think they underestimated the Christmas season and were understaffed or something or having problems with their ordering system.

No, i don't think its the season. I've ordered lots of stuff over the last two months - probably 5 different orders to me, and 5 to others.
The deal with them and their order verification is based on the credit card company. They are very strict about privacy and authenticity. Things have to line up perfectly for them to do anything on the first order, and if its not, they will call your credit card company themselves and have them authorize it. I don't find this foolish - I find it very safe. |

I bought the exact same card last week. Mine was also in bubble wrap, but the box was taped shut and sealed and all the cables were in sealed bags and the CD envelope was gummed shut. It never occurred to me that it was a refurb. It works fine and all the parts were there.
eVGA's driver update sucks, though. The file is freakin' huge!! |
