The PSU in That case is generic Junk. You should get an ATX 2.0 PSU from a reputable maker like Antec or Enermax. You will get plenty of cables with the parts, You need to get an Operating System and might need a floppy drive during the setup.

You should get a dual channel kit instead of a single module for the RAM
That's an awfully expensive burner for that budget...if you don't need the fancy one, you could save a few bucks by getting a basic one.

Thx for the reply
I already have win xp from my old pc I can use with the new one.
I will add a floppy just in case i need it. As for as the case and power supply are concerned is there a power supply i could get to go with that case because i like the way it looks. What about the fans...do they come with the parts also? thx for the feedback |

Keep in mind you can only use Win XP on one computer - you can't use it again, unless you are dismantling that one.
You can use the case if you want, but that power supply is a piece of junk. You can't really see the power supply and it's nothing special. Like Jay said, get an Antec, Enermax, or Seasonic, Forton Source (FSP) and XClio. It must be an ATX 2.0 unit (24 pin main connector). Sure, you can get that DVD burner if you you want...just didn't want you to waste your money on something you weren't going to use. Getting the dual channel kit (2x512MB) will allow you to run it in Dual Channel mode, increasing bandwidth. While not as a big of a deal with an AMD system (compared to Intel) it'll still increase performance. Oh, after reviewing your build again, I would consider getting a cheaper CPU and a faster video card. That video will hold you back... I'd maybe get a 3700+ and then you might be able to get a 6800GS or GT - which will perform better than the 6600GT. Last edited by blue60007; 01-15-2006 at 09:13 AM. |

I would say eVGA is the best brand for video cards. Don't forget the dual channel kit for RAM.
You should get a SATA hard drive...it's the newer technology. As for the case/power supply - I don't think Enermax puts an Enermax power supply in that. Way too cheap. I looked at the specs, and I don't think it's an ATX 2.0 - it doesn't have dual 12V rails either. It also isn't going to be powerful enough, its a little weak in important areas. Here's an excellent case with an excellent power supply for this system. As for the CPU - unless you are going to do heavy multitasking, the 3700+ will be better. It's single core has a higher operating frequency, and twice as much cache as each core of the 3800+ X2. Also, for gaming the video card is more important than the CPU, so in getting the X2 you had to cut the video card back, which would probably hurt performance rather than help it. Ahhh - one problem. You need a PCI-E video card, that AGP one won't fit. See if you can still cancel that order or send it back once you get it. Other than that, things look in order.
