Can my PSU run another hdd possibly a new gfx card?

Hiya,

I plan on adding/upgrading some parts on my PC, and I wanted to just make sure that my powersupply was strong enough to handle these new parts!

I'm not much a power supply expert, so could you tell me if my PSU (480W) can take another harddrive and new gfx card? What I plan to add, is a Maxtor Maxline III 300GB harddrive as a second hdd, and replace my 9550 Radeon with hopefully a ATi X800 XL or maybe something like Nvidia's 6800 GS (since the agp version just came out).

Current set up is:

Mobo: Abit Av8 Socket 939 K8
Processor: Athlon 64 3500+
Ram: 512mb x2 (Dual Channel)
Hdd: Seagate Barracuda 120 GB SATA
Gfx: Saphhire Radeon 9550 SE
Sound: Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS 7.1
Modem: US Robotics V.92 56k (PCI)
Optical Drive 1: 16x Dvd Rom
Optical Drive 2: 4x/48x Lite-on Dvd/Cd Burner
Some Floppy Drive

Powersupply: 480 Watts (Can supply voltages and such if needed.)

Thanks!

What brand is it? If you don't know, post the voltages, that should give us a halfway idea on how good it is.

A 480W quality power supply would be more than enough - I ran the X800 XL on a decent 350W fine (but it was a little overworked), however, a cheapo 480W could struggle (it's real output is going to be much lower).

Yeah, it depends on what brand the power supply is...hopefully you have a good one.

Unsure of the brand as its from Alienware.

Here's the specs on the PSU.

ATX 12V

- - - - DL - - - - - - - - Output
+5 | 33V | +12 || -5V | -12V | +5VSB
40A | 30A | 18A || 0.3A | 0.8A | 2A

AC Input: 100 - 240V 8A
50 -60 HZ

Peak: 480W

Hope this helps!

Will it be able to take another hdd and new gfx? =x

There's no name on the label? How about a model number?

Yikes...that's really low on the 12V rail. I have a 350W power supply with more amperage on the 12V rail.

Again, I agree. That's REALLY low for a "480W" PSU. Maybe it's a dual-rail PSU and you missed a stat?

It should be enough power, because I'm running amd4000+, abitan8, 7800GT and 2 harddrives, 74gb 10,000rpms, and a 250GB sata, 5 case fans, on a Thermaltake 430watt, with 12V rail at 18AMPs.

Alienware power supplies are from alienware i believe, saw one of my friends computer nd it should have ALIENWARE label on the power supply...
