http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131521 Is this a good choice for the prossesor, and will the onboard vidio handle light to med gaming.
Thanks for your time ,

The case looks nice but wouldn't use the PSU. Would either look for a case without a PSU and get a good one or get a good one and keep the one from the case as a spare.
That mobo is a bit dated with being only AGP video and generally on-board video works poorly for gaming.

onboard is not that bad when your working or play light games, but i would get a video card for mid games.

cases is a matter of preferences, so if you like it then its up to you. your missing out the ram, HD, and the opticals.

also i dont trust that PSU, so you may wanna get a better one

Good choices keep in mind the prescot core runs hot, so I would make sue to have adiquate cooling for that case... I alos would recommend a differnet PSU for the case if that is the one you really want....

Thanks for the input,
I've been reading the forums for a week, I've learned quite a bit already. I decided to build because my 2 Dells are so restricted ,as far as upgrades.
I bought the case at Comp usa for $50 -$30 rebate so I'm gonna stick with it, the psu can be shelved. Any suggestions for a replacment?
My son will be playing WOW on this computer, any suggestions on a vidio card.
I appreciate all the help.

for the replacemt of your PSU, i suggest an Antec, cause they are very good.

what slot do you have on your pc, agp or pci-e for the video card?

Any specific Wattage?? for the PSU. Is there not enough watts or is the brand suspect
The AGP slot supports only 1.5v or 0.8v AGP cards, no support for 3.3v.

Howdy,
I installed the new psu, the chip, Ram and the Mobo. booted up without a monitor(my brothers bringing me one tomorrow). Got a steady green light on the motherboard and one beep, then another beep some time later(ten seconds or so)
I hope everythings good, going to get a Hard Drive and a vidio card tomorrow. I'll check the boards in the morning. 'night all.

I got a samsung HD 80 for @ 70 bucks and a Readon 9550, I loaded an old copy of windows 2000 and everything booted up fine, I'm not on the internet yet because I want to get a copy of windows xp first.
All in all it was a good experience. The hardest part was trying to see the lables for the electrical connections on the motherboard (old eyes).
Anyways, thanks for your help and for having this site, I couldn't have done it otherwise.
total cost
mobo 69.
prossesor 199.
HD 70.
Vid cd 99.
Case 20.
512 Ram 50.
memorex CDR 55.
links USB net 30.

@ 600 bucks, add the OS and it's around 700, I'm happy with it
