oops, i think i fried my onboard sound
saw another thread in here about connecting onboard sound to front panel of case. unfortunately, my vision is not as good as it used to be and i mis-connected one of the pins. not a good one to mess up on, either. accidently connected the ground wire to the VCC pin. i am assuming this is enough to fry the onboard IC?
there is no sound output from it. did i kill it? is this detrimental to the rest of the board even though it seems to still work fine otherwise? is it safe to just disable the onboard sound and get a PCI soundcard and forget about it, or should i RMA the board because of this? thanks... -pissed off computer geek |

Sometimes merely connecting the front panel audio disables the rear output. It's one or the other, not both. Try disconnecting the front and see if the back returns. Also make sure any jumpers are returned to their default positions.
