Should I test the processor....

Alright so i did the out of box check and it didnt work... so then i took apart my own computer and tested each part and each one works so now I have narrowed the problem down to either the Mobo or Processor. My mobo is the same socket as his and i was wondering if there was a risk in testing his processor in my pc... Should I try or not? All the lights and fans come on when I turn it on so I think the motherboard is good and im leaning toward the procsessor.

Thanks,

Sir Ify

No, it doesn't mean anything. Lights and fans came on on all dead motherboards I know.

No risk. In fact, it's the only way to finally test what's broken.

Yes. Otherwise you can't find out. You need to test either his CPU in your mainboard, or your CPU in his, or even both. Then you'll see.

Yes, you need it. You shouldn't run your computer if there is no thermal compound between the CPU and the heatsink.

I went through the same thing last weekend and I did both. Then you will know exactly what component is bad.
