troubleshooting xion II build

Main components: Case: Xion II Blue LED case
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-81848P(-G) P4 Titan series
Processor: Intel P4 2.8ghz
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon

These are the only components I've installed in my computer so far.

What works: When I turn the power on, the power LED glows, all 3 case fans spin, heat sink fan spins, light underneath USB mouse lights up.

What doesn't: No beeping of any kind, no lights on USB keyboard.

Given what does and does not work, does this sound like a shorted out mobo? Also, does my keyboard and/or monitor have to be plugged in in order to get any kind of beeping? I don't get my monitor until tomorrow evening, so I can't tell you whether or not that works. I plan to follow the out-of-case troubleshooting instructions posted on this forum after I get my monitor. I was just wondering if I was missing anything horribly obvious in the meantime.

Thanks in advance for any replies/advice.

Is the PC case speaker hooked up properly? Or does that motherboard have a built in piezo speaker?

And you don't have your RAM yet? I'd just wait until everything else arrives before you go any further.

What brand power supply are you using?

my bad...

Ram: Gateway 512 MB SODIMM (I have two but am only using one for now).

Where do I find info about the speakers? My mobo manual doesn't show anything about the onboard audio aside from the jacks on the back of the computer. I think I have my front audio plugged in per instructions, but the case came without instructions and the mobo mentions nothing about audio aside from the small diagram for plugging in the front audio ports.

Sorry I forgot to mention the ram...6 hours of building and 2 hours of crying baby will give you brain damage. *grin*

Wrong memory. sodimm is notebook memory, you need 184 pin ddr memory for that motherboard.
