Please post your complete system specs by brand and model including the power supply.
Give details about the problem...when you hit the power button, what happens exactly? Cricket

Does that motherboard have two separate power connections? A 24 pin and a 4 pin? If it does, are both plugged in?
Are you sure you have the power button wire connector on the correct pins on the motherboard? With the system plugged into the wall outlet, does a LED on the motherboard light up? If not, see if the power supply has a toggle switch on the back and make sure the "l" is pushed down. Cricket

Check your motherboard manual to see if the motherboard does have a LED on it to indicate it is getting power from the power supply. What do you have the power cord plugged into? A surge suppressor or directly into the wall outlet? Cricket

Make sure the surge suppressor is turned on.
Make sure the rocker switch on the power supply has the "l" pushed down. Make sure the power button connector is on the correct pins. Usually, when you have the computer plugged in and you turn the power supply on with the rocker switch you'll see some of the fans twitch because power is being introduced to the system. If you don't see this happen you may have a dead power supply. Cricket

Glad you found the problem and it wasn't anything serious (like a dead component).
