calculating power requirment

I'm going to buy a new power supply, does anybody know of a web site that can provide power consumption figures, like how much for a SATA drive how much for DVD drive etc so as to calculate an estimate of the power supply needed.

If it's for the system in your sig, a quality 350 watt PSU will be sufficient. If you are planning on upgrading your video card, then go higher, those are the single biggest power eaters in a computer.
